National Chiropractic Legislative Conference March 2nd - 5th
Hyatt Regency, Washington in Washington, DC
Dear State Association Leader,
2004 was a banner year for the chiropractic profession - DCs became the first provider group added to the massive Veteran’s Affairs health care system, Medicare Chiropractic Demonstration Project implementation started, Department of Defense Chiropractic Advisory Committee was reinstated, to name a few. But none of this could have happened without the powerful grassroots base of the ACA and numerous state associations, including yours. Although we have lobbyists working fulltime on Capitol Hill, it is the ACA’s National Chiropractic Legislative Conference (NCLC) that brings hundreds of doctors of chiropractic, chiropractic students and state association executives from across the country meet with all 535 Members of Congress on critical legislative issues. For just a few days, our profession’s lobbying team grows to over 500 voices all advocating for the profession and patients. It is with this grassroots power in mind that I invite you to designate an official NCLC liaison from your organization to help ensure our message is heard loud and clear on Capitol Hill.
We have a strong legislative agenda for 2005, including expanding access in Federal health care systems including the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, Department of Defense, the National Health Service Corps and Medicare. I invite you to designate an official NCLC liaison to give your association a voice in the planning of future NCLC programs and help better coordinate our grassroots message by helping organize Congressional appointments with Student ACA (SACA) to eliminate duplicate meetings on Capitol Hill (with the assistance of ACA staff). With such an aggressive legislative agenda, grassroots coordination is going to be vital and I encourage all associations to partake in this opportunity. All official NCLC Liaisons will get FREE NCLC registration! Attached is an NCLC Liaison form for your association to complete and return to ACA no later than January 27, 2005.
Also, I want to take a moment to let you know that NCLC 2005 will feature expanded programs, including opportunities for DCs to earn continuing education credits and to learn the latest on the Federal and state concerns that concern each one of us:
· Expanded state association roundtable held in conjunction with COCSA featuring exclusive insight on crafting legislation, successful fundraising ideas and legislative/regulatory matters tailored to meet the needs of state associations.
· Informational seminars on the Medicare Chiropractic Demonstration Project and recent inclusion in the Veteran’s Affairs health care on how your association and your local members can become a part of the our recent legislative successes
· Continuing education seminars: Featuring - Medicare Solutions: How to Avoid Common Pitfalls and Open The Door To Occupational Healthcare With Workplace Safety
And much more…

NCLC 2005 is a must-attend event for all chiropractic leaders and activists. NCLC attendees help craft and implement the chiropractic message in Washington, DC and in states across the country. With this in mind, I invite you to designate an employee of your state association to act as an official NCLC liaison. This is a wonderful opportunity to share with the ACA your association’s thoughts on the needs of the profession and will have direct input in the planning of NCLC. All official NCLC liaisons will be offered free NCLC registration! Please complete the attached form to nominate an official NCLC liaison.
